Laventille East/Morvant

Terms of Use

Last updated: 2 July 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of this website and the constituency service tools provided through it (the "Platform"), operated on behalf of the Laventille East/Morvant constituency office ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Purpose of the Platform

The Platform helps residents submit issues and complaints, track their progress, view community initiatives and events, nominate individuals for recognition, and apply for volunteer opportunities. The Platform is provided as a community service. It does not replace, and is not, a government agency, a legal service, or an emergency service.

2. Not an emergency service

The Platform is not an emergency response system and is not monitored continuously. Urgent threats to life, safety, health, or property must be reported directly to the police, fire, ambulance, or other appropriate emergency or public authority. We accept no responsibility for any loss or harm arising from the use of the Platform to report urgent matters.

3. No guarantee of service or outcome

Submitting a complaint, nomination, event, volunteer application, or any other content does not create any obligation, entitlement, or contractual relationship, and does not guarantee any particular response, action, timeframe, or outcome. Many matters require verification, referral to public agencies, additional information, or resources outside the direct control of the constituency office.

Status information shown on the Platform (including complaint tracking) is provided for convenience only and may be incomplete, delayed, or subject to change.

4. Your responsibilities

When using the Platform, you agree that you will:

  • provide information that is true, accurate, and not misleading;
  • only submit information about other people (for example, a nominee) where you have their consent or another lawful basis to do so;
  • not submit content that is false, defamatory, abusive, threatening, obscene, discriminatory, or otherwise unlawful;
  • not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organisation;
  • not use the Platform for commercial solicitation, political spam, or bulk or automated submissions;
  • not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, interfere with its operation, probe or test its security, or circumvent any rate limits or protective measures; and
  • not upload files containing malicious code or content you do not have the right to share.

5. Submissions and licence

You retain ownership of the content you submit. By submitting content (including complaints, nominations, event details, stories, images, and attachments), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, review, process, adapt, and use that content for the purposes of operating the Platform, reviewing and responding to submissions, referring matters to relevant agencies, producing internal reports, and — for content submitted for public display (such as events and Wall of Fame nominations) — publishing it on the Platform.

We are under no obligation to publish, act on, or retain any submission, and we may reject, edit for presentation, remove, or decline any submission at our sole discretion and without notice, including where we consider it inaccurate, inappropriate, or contrary to these Terms.

6. Accuracy of Platform content

Content on the Platform (including initiative descriptions, event listings, statistics, and recognition profiles) is provided for general information only. Event listings and other community-submitted content are provided by third parties, and we do not verify or endorse them. We make no representation or warranty that any content is accurate, complete, or current, and we accept no liability for reliance placed on it.

7. Availability and changes

We do not promise that the Platform will be available at any particular time, uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We may suspend, withdraw, restrict, or change all or any part of the Platform at any time without notice and without liability.

8. Suspension and restriction of use

We may restrict, block, or refuse submissions or access — including through automated spam and rate-limiting controls — where we reasonably believe the Platform is being misused or these Terms are being breached. We may also flag, reject, or discard submissions identified as spam or abuse.

9. Intellectual property

The Platform and its original content, features, branding, and design are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, scrape, or exploit any part of the Platform without our prior written consent, except as permitted by law.

10. Third-party links and services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or rely on third-party services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party, and a link does not imply endorsement.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we, and the persons who operate and administer the Platform, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary loss or damage, or for any loss of data, opportunity, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Platform, any submission made through it, or any action taken or not taken in respect of a submission. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Platform, or content you submit — including any claim that content you submitted about another person was provided without their consent or infringes their rights.

14. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how information submitted through the Platform is collected, used, and protected.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and any dispute arising in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Trinidad and Tobago.

16. General

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the Platform.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when they were most recently revised. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.

18. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be directed to the constituency office — see our contact page for office hours and phone details.
